After the biggest win in over 80 years for Minnesota, this is what Head Coach PJ Fleck had to say, “This team’s been through so much — on the field, off the field — through the last three years,” he said. “This team has heart. It has courage. It has character. It’s got an unbelievable culture. They found a way. The whole season’s been highs, lows, but we found a way to win and that was the biggest thing. We’ve been telling people, it’s like — we just find a way to win. They love each other. It’s a special group of young men.” After that emotional win, the Gophers were ranked the highest we’ve been ranked in almost 30 years at #7 in the nation. e big win seemed to have a lasting effect in the upcoming week because the heavily favored Gophers unexpectedly fell against the unranked Iowa squad 23-19.
